Acoustic trio Banshee in the Kitchen infuses traditional Celtic music with strong dashes of jazz and rock. Critics praise their dynamic arrangements and instrumental precision. Audiences love the band’s eclectic approach, finding the sweet spot between old and new, playfully stirring them together with musicality they call “banshee-fying”.

Banshee in the Kitchen, based in Bakersfield, California, has been touring and recording since 2002. Last year they released their fifth album, Live at Painted Sky, following on Invite the Light: World Music for Winter(2007), and Even Hotter Water (2005). All five Banshee albums get airplay and national and international public radio, with special features on Echoes (PRI) featuring their holiday music and second album, Catching the Mooncoin, which placed in its top 20 albums of 2003.

Banshee in the Kitchen is: National Champion hammered dulcimer player Brenda Hunter (fiddle, hammered dulcimer, vocals), Jill Egland (flute, accordion, whistle, bodhran, vocals) and Mary Tulin (six- and twelve-string guitar, bouzouki, vocals).
